Rock Against Cancer! Bringing the healing power of music to kids fighting cancer….making music part of their cure! Rock Against Cancer is a nonprofit organization advocating for kids with cancer at the local, state and national level.

Rock Against Cancer's programs provide children and families respite from the long and painful cancer treatment process using music, while helping to garner public awareness and support for the youngest victims of cancer.

Rock Against Cancer held the first “Stars Night Out” concert event of the year with old friend’s matchbox 20. Young cancer patients being treated at Primary Children’s Medical Center in Salt Lake City enjoyed matchbox 20’s special brand of hospitality during the March 6th concert. A huge thanks to Rob, Brian, Paul, Kyle, Leila, Dave and Jason all who made it special night to remember for young cancer patients.

 

2007 Highlights:

• January-Stars Night Out with Red Hot Chili Peppers, Raliegh

• February-special Stars Night Out with Goo Goo Dolls, Norfolk, VA

• March-UCLA Mattel Children’s School of Rock kickoff

• April-Stars Night Out with Gwen Stefani, Salt Lake City

• May-Carolinas Medical Center hires Music Therapist for SOR

• June-kickoff of UCSF School of Rock

• July-hospital visit with Sister Hazel, Stars Night Out in Charlotte with Beyonce

• August-kick off of Duke Children’s and Primary Children’s Medical Center (SLC) School of Rock’s

• September-2nd annual “Play it Forward” benefit concert, Board attends BCBSNC Foundation Healthy Community Institute

• October- UCLA hires Music Therapist for School of Rock

• November-1st Annual appeal campaign begins, Music Therapist hired at The Mayo Clinic

• December 1st annual “Play it Forward” in Atlanta raises $12,000 for Atlanta School of Rock
