From our Founder...

Rock Against Cancer continues to empower young cancer patients with music. RAC is proud to announce the establishment of eight (8) Hot Topic Foundation "School of Rock" programs around the US.

A "School of Rock" provides a Board Certified Music Therapist and/or a digital recording studio with instrument donations to Children's Oncology Group hospitals. Music Therapy has been shown to lessen nausea; anxiety and pain while helping young cancer patients express their feelings about cancer such as being bald. Music Therapy provides crucial emotional support while the young cancer patients fight for their lives.

Rock Against Cancer’s eight Hot Topic Foundation “School of Rock” centers providing Music Therapy to hundreds of young cancer patients currently ‘making music part of the cure’ in:

  • • NC Children’s Hospital, UNC Chapel Hill, NC established February 2006
  • • Tomorrows Children’s Institute, WFAN-Don Imus Pediatric Oncology Center, Hackensack, NJ established March 2006
  • • University of California, San Francisco Children’s Hospital established January 2007
  • • Levine Children’s Hospital, Carolinas Medical Center, Charlotte, NC established January 2007

Through RAC’s “Stars Night Out” program young cancer patients rocked with The Red Hot Chili Peppers in NC, Goo Goo Dolls in VA, Sister Hazel in MN, Gwen Stefani in UT and Beyonce in NC.

Grassroots support continues to grow for RAC. Supporters held “Play it Forward” benefit concerts: Sam Grillo in New Jersey, Camp Ernst Middle School in Kentucky, The Tabernacle/Jean Murphy/STS9 and The Vinyl in Atlanta, Georgia, Danielle from Tampa, Florida, raised thousands of dollars to support RAC programs.

Stay tuned for 2008’s coming attractions:
