We first met Margie in Charlotte during a "Stars Night Out" event with Nelly Furtado.

We laughed with 17 year old Margie and her best friend Millie, both fighting cancer. Margie was thrilled when Nelly wished her friend Millie a very special "Happy 18th Birthday" from the stage. Margie's leukemia came back shortly after we met. Her only hope was a bone marrow transplant. She insisted the only thing she needed to get better was to meet her favorite band, the Dave Matthews Band. Rock Against Cancer quickly pulled together a very special event for this brave teen, a trip to Washington D.C. to meet Dave Matthews and attend the concert. Margie and her sister Sarah were flown to D.C. by Operation Liftoff. The D.C. streets were jammed with concert goers, the cab driver seemed to drive around and around, we missed our private meeting with Dave but enjoyed a sensational concert. Margie received her transplant in August and fought valiantly, she always had a smile on her face and a quick witted comment for the nurses. Margie's battle ended on October 6th. We miss her bugging us about the next Dave Matthews Band show and we miss her soaring spirit. She told us "I just want to be famous and remembered for something". Margie we will never forget you!
