The 1st Annual Strike Out Childhood Cancer Night at Durham Bulls Athletic Park in Durham, NC on August 8, 2009 was a huge success! Thank you to everyone who volunteered, donated or helped with this Night in any way!
The Childhood Cancer Awareness Night was held during the Bulls home game versus the Syracuse Chiefs on August 8, 2009. The Bulls players and coaches wore special jerseys during the game which were autographed and auctioned off along with other sports and music memorabilia. The silent auction was held during the game. Ten children with cancer took part in the Field of Dreams team where they went onto the field with the players during the National Anthem. Sixteen local and national community organizations serving children with cancer participated. Immediately following the game, there was an amazing fireworks show and a beautiful lighting of luminaria in the infield known as the Field of Memories. Itl honored and remembered children afflicted with cancer. Afterwards, a post game concert by local band The High & Mighties kicked off and a few hundred people stuck around to hear the great music! All the concert proceeds benefited Rock Against Cancer. Thank you to all of you who joined us for a great night of baseball, music and fun to benefit a great cause!
